Museum to reopen after period of closure
People around the Whitby area looking for something to do will be pleased to learn that Cleveland Irontstone Museum will reopen its doors again on Monday from 11am.
The attraction had been closed following recent structural damage suffered during bad weather.
To begin with, only some parts of the museum will be accessible, with a phased opening taking place over the coming months, with a specially adapted tour.
Due to this, the cost of a visit is being reduced to £2 per adult and £1 per child until further notice.
Museum staff say: “The safety of our visitors is paramount to us and we are working in partnership with HSE, the mines inspector and Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council to eventually reopen the whole museum.
“We would like to thank everyone for their kind support.”
