A 70-year-old motorcyclist has died after colliding with a barrier on the A171 as he travelled from Whitby towards Teesside.
At around 4.45pm yesterday afternoon, tragedy struck as the rider came round the first bend at Birk Brow hill, before hitting a barrier and suffering serious head injuries.
He was rushed to James Cook Hospital but sadly died.
Police say the rider had been travelling with a group around the North East and North Yorkshire.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police added: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist sadly died after he was in a collision on the A171 at Birk Brow yesterday.
"Enquiries into the single vehicle collision are on going and we are asking for anyone who was in the area at that time and who saw the group of motorcyclists and/or the collision itself.
"Please contact the Cleveland and Durham Collision Investigation Unit via the 101 number quoting Event CVP-18-065771."
