Meeting to discuss housing plans

AN EXTRAORDINARY meeting will be held tonight to discuss plans for a big housing development in Whitby.

It will be held tonight (Tuesday 29 March) at 6pm.

The meeting is to discuss a planning application for 174 homes on land south of the existing Barratt estate off Larpool Lane.

David Wilson Homes – part of the Barratt Group – has formally submitted a planning application to Scarborough Borough Council (SBC).

Of the 139 homes for sale on the open market there will be three two bedroom properties, 29 three bedroom homes and 107 houses of four bedrooms plus. However the scheme also includes 20% of affordable housing. Seventeen of these will be available for rent from a registered social landlord.

And eighteen homes – 17 two bed homes and one three bed house – will be classed as ‘intermediate housing’ which includes various forms of shared ownership housing.
