Man injured in incident with garden machinery

A Sandsend man has suffered “severe and serious” injuries in an accident with some gardening machinery earlier today (Sunday).

The Great North Air Ambulance was called to transport the man, thought to be in his 50s, to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

A spokesperson said the man had suffered a serious injury and the air ambulance had been scrambled at the request of Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

He was flown to hospital within 11 minutes and was said to be in a stable condition.
