Man, 22 and boy, 16, killed in crash on A64 in North Yorkshire

A young man and teenage boy have died after a crash on the A64.

Police say the accident happened at around 11.50pm on Monday when a car veered off the carriageway, trapping the driver and two passengers.

The driver – a 22-year-old man – and the rear seat passenger – a 16-year-old boy – died in the crash.

The front seat passenger – a woman in her 20s – was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The vehicle - a Vauxhall Insignia - was later reported stolen.

All three occupants are from the West Yorkshire area.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

The crash happened near Tadcaster and the carriageway was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

A police investigation into the collision is ongoing.
