YHA Whitby on East Cliff is inviting the local community to discover what’s on their doorstep as part of its annual YHA Day celebration.
Taking place on Saturday September 3 from midday to 5pm, YHA Whitby is one of 16 Youth Hostels across England and Wales that will be opening its doors for the day and inviting all to discover what it has to offer.
As part of its YHA Day 2016 celebrations YHA Whitby is going on a bear hunt. It is inviting people to come dressed as a bear and join them on a hunt for bears hidden throughout its award-winning garden and win prizes.
As well as the bear hunt, the youth hostel is also hosting a hugely popular pop-up shop, selling off unclaimed lost property and raising money for YHA’s bursary fund Breaks for Kids, which funds activities and stays for young people from disadvantaged families.
Items for sale at previous pop-up shops have included designer sunglasses and clothes, mobile phones, tablets and even laptops.
YHA Day is now in its fourth year and is an opportunity for Youth Hostels to connect with their local community and for people to discover how YHA and its properties have changed.
