Looking back at Stakesby Garage

STAFF at Stakesby Garage take a break and pose for a picture during the early 1960s.

Third from the left on the back row stands Ron Williamson who’s daughter, Sandra Noble from Raw, brought the photographs into the Gazette.

Mrs Noble and her husband, William, would like to know the identity of the gentleman to the left of the indoor picture.

They remember him as a wrestler, but he apparently also dabbled in hypnotism.

Mr Noble said: “He used to lay down on his back and see if people could pick him up by his earlobes.”

The garage has now been replaced by the modern Spar shop and forecourt, located opposite LIDL.

Anyone who can provide any information about the two photographs should contact Duncan Atkins at duncan.atkins@yrnltd.co.uk.
