Lockdales, the auctioneers, will be holding a specialist valuation day next Monday (16 April) at the Green Lane Centre, Whitby, between 11.30am and 3.30pm.
The team will be on the lookout for the following types of collectables: Coins, stamps, banknotes, clocks, watches, silver, gold, books and maps (pre-1900), medals and militaria, cigarette-cards, postcards, pre-1960 sports programmes and scientific instruments.
Members of the public will have the option, if they wish, to consign their goods to be sold in a future public auction, or they may request a cash purchase offer from Lockdales themselves.
Valuations at this event will be provided entirely free of charge without any obligation to sell.
Dan Daley, director at Lockdales, said: “The valuation days are a great way for us to find unique and interesting items from the public.
“We have conducted hundreds of valuation days all over the UK and often turn up some very rare items.
“At one event, a unique gold coin from the Dark Ages, was brought along where the owner was not aware of the value of it.
“We later sold it on its owners’ behalf at auction for over £19,000.”
