Lifeboat call for patient falling ill on fishing trip

Whitby’s lifeboat was called upon to help a passenger on a fishing trip who had fallen ill with cardiac chest pains.

The all weather George and Mary Webb was paged at 12.50pm on Sunday by Humber Coastguard after being contacted by charter vessel Saxon Lady.

The lifeboat with six crew set off to meet the vessel which was eight miles north of the piers.

By the time they met Saxon Lady who was heading back to Whitby they were three miles out.

The patient was transferred to the lifeboat and given a medical assessment before being handed over to ambulance paramedics who were waiting back at the station.
