Inspector hails success of event

WHITBY’S police inspector has declared the latest Services Day a “great success”.

The day involved a variety of emergency services and demonstrations were carried out to highlight the significant work and dedication that goes into maintaining a safe environment for residents and holidaymakers to be in.

Inspector Andy Colbourne said: “The attendance of residents and holidaymakers ensured that the effort put into organising this was worthwhile.

“Yorkshire Air Ambulance raised £768 and youngsters from the Cop-a-Lot scheme raised £276, to be donated to Help for Heroes.

“Their commitment is to be commended and showed real community spirit.

“I would like to thank Vinyl Signs for providing the banners at short notice for this event and also Mark Bruce whose Bob the Builder and Daisy Duck outfits were well received.

“It is hoped the event will take place again next year and I would like to personally thank all those involved.”
