Injured walker airlifted to safety at Ravenscar
The Coastguard Rescue Helicopter airlifted an injured walker who had fallen at Ravenscar yesterday.
Whitby Coastguard Rescue Team and Ravenscar Coastguard Rescue Team were called to help the walker on the scar at Peake Steel at 1.56pm.
They found the person - who had suffered a leg injury - close to the bottom of the path leading down from Ravenscar.
The helicopter was called to lift them off the scar and back to the cliff top. The walker was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
If you see anyone in trouble at sea or on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
