PHOTOGRAPHER Pip is based in London.

Aged 23, he hails from Malton, and is no stranger to Whitby and surrounding area.

One of his latest jobs involved him finding a location to take shots for the cover of former Spice Girl Melanie C’s new album, The Sea.

The destination he chose was Boggle Hole near Robin Hood’s Bay, a favourite place of his since childhood days.

So what makes celebrity snapper and fish and chip fan Pip tick?

Reporter Emma Spencer caught up with him to ask him this week’s 20 questions ...

1 What are your first memories of Whitby?

I think my parents took me and my brother when we were about eight years old.

Fish and chips on the harbour.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

2 What makes Whitby special to you?

It definitely has a timeless beauty to it.

Although Whitby has welcomed tourism, you can still see the soul of the town as was hundreds of years ago.

When I was younger my dad introduced me to the work of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe.

I enjoy wandering around contemplating what life was like in Whitby back then.

3 Life’s highlight?

The day I made the jump into becoming a professional photographer.

There is no greater feeling than doing what you love for a living.

4 Biggest regret?

Not having had the chance to work with Amy Winehouse before she passed away.

5 What did you have for breakfast this morning?

Some cold pizza.

6 What is your favourite eating place?

Chipotle in Soho. Burrito heaven.

7 What is your favourite pub?

The Earl of Lonsdale, Notting Hill.

8 Where are the best fish and chips?

Definitely not London.

Aberdeen is pretty good, but let’s face it, Whitby is king.

9 What is your worst habit?

I always leave the seat up.

10 Where was your last holiday?

I went to La Rochelle recently. It’s like the Whitby of France!

11 When was the last time you cried?

An old school friend of mine died a couple of years ago in a car accident.

RIP Tom Warrington (1990-2008).

12 What would be your ideal day in Whitby?

Is there a limit of how many times you’re allowed to say fish and chips in this article? I think the day would mainly revolve around that dish.

13 What was your first job?

I had a good old-fashioned paper round.

14 What is your favourite film?

A current favourite is The Fighter. Christian Bale’s performance is close to perfection.

15 What is your favourite book?

October Sky – Homer Hickham

16 If you won the Lottery, what would you do with it?

I’d divide it between helping underprivileged people and funding various film projects I have in the pipeline.

17 Dracula or Captain Cook?

Cook, obviously.

18 What is your signature dish?

My culinary skills are somewhat lacking.

But I can make a mean pancake.

19 Favourite drink?

I’m going through a bit of a pineapple juice phase at the moment.

20 What would be your epitaph?

Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.
