Last year, the crown went to Burton House in Robin Hood’s bay, in an event which celebrates the country’s diverse architecture and landscapes.

Nominations are now open for 2017 – and we are calling on the Whitby area to make it a prestigious double by winning again.

This year, local people are being offered the chance to show off beautiful views from their own properties, with the additional launch of Home with a View.

Hundreds of entries were received last year, with a panel of expert judges from the tourism, architecture, photography, interiors and construction sectors selecting the Burton House, University of Sheffield’s the Diamond Building, York Minster and Skipton Castle as the best views in Yorkshire and Humber.

The public then voted in their thousands, with Burton House taking the inaugural crown. The attraction was put forward to the final for the national title, which was won by the Museum of Liverpool.

The public can now submit their nominations for 2017 via, by uploading a photo of a Window with a View from any building in the UK that is open to the public. And Home with a View invites people to submit a picture taken from inside their house, sharing a spectacular view that only they are lucky enough to enjoy.

The competitions will run alongside one another, with entries closing on April 30. Visit full rules and details
