ENDEAVOUR Rotary has teamed up with Macmillan Cancer Support to promote a fund-raising walk that is taking place on 12 May.
The 13-mile Whitby Walk is part of the Miles for Macmillan walking programme and Endeavour Rotary, Whitby became involved in fund-raisers for the support charity following the death a member in 2011.
The rotary member had received support from Macmillan and so the group became involved, raising £2,700 during last year’s sponsored walk.
Macmillan fund-raising manager, Sally Millington, said: “The Whitby Walk is an absolutely stunning but challenging circular route.
“Starting from the Leisure Centre, we’ll be heading out to Sandsend along the beach, passing through the pretty villages of Lythe and East Barnby and out to the spectacular Runswick Bay, then returning along the old railway track along the dramatic Whitby cliffs.”
The rotary club will be entering Team Endeavour Rotary, but other residents are also invited to join in and take part in the walk.
Participants are encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as they can and Sally added: “Every penny raised is a penny that will help us to reach more people who need us.
“Whether you walk alone, with the dog, or with a group of friends or colleagues, this really is a beautiful yet tough challenge which will help make a big difference.”
The registration fee for the walk is just £10 and everyone who signs up will receive a fund-raising pack with everything needed to help prepare for the walk.
