Health priorities to be presented

THE KEY priorities for health services in Whitby and North Yorkshire are to be outlined at a presentation next week.

NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), made up of local doctors, is going to assume responsibility for identifying and buying health services in the area.

Its strategic plan sets out the priorities and direction of its work over the next few months and this is going to be put to the public at a meeting in Whitby.

In summary the main areas are transforming the community system, mental health and dementia care, clinically appropriate planned care, children’s health, patients with long term conditions, prevention of ill-health and productivity in primary care.

Dr Vicky Pleydell, Chief Clinical Officer Designate at NHS Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby CCG said: “As a group of GPs, we intend to transform local health services to better meet the needs of our local population.

“To help us achieve this, we have developed a five year strategic plan which sets out our priorities and will guide our work throughout the coming months.

“We are fully committed to engaging with patients and the public in everything we do, so we want local people to hear about our Strategic Plan and give us their views. This feedback will then help us to develop our key pieces of work for the next 12 months and beyond.”

The presentation will take place at 12pm on Thursday 28 February, at The Training Room in the Green Lane Centre. It follows the CCG’s Shadow Governing Body meeting which the public are also welcome to attend from 10am-12pm.
