Having a whale of a time in Whitby waters

Minke whales are being spotted in Whitby waters as they begin their migration journey for the year.

Jeremy Parkin sent us this picture of a whale frolicking in the water between Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay taken while he was on a trip with Whitby Whale Watching last Saturday on the Specksioneer.

He said: “We sailed to Robin Hood’s Bay and then out to about ten miles off coast working our way north. On the way we saw many porpoises and several seals. Going down to the Bay we came across at least three minke whales. This makes Whitby a great place to watch whales because of the variety of cetaceans.”
