Children can give local birds a helping hand this half term by making willow feeders and building a bird box in Danby.
Other activities at the The Moors National Park Centre include sowing spring seeds in personally decorated plant pots and a navigation activity to give families the confidence to explore the North York Moors.
Compost is the topic for discussion at a Sowing Spring Seeds event on Monday (21 February).
Children can find out how to make it and why using peat free compost is good for the environment and the National Park.
They will also get to decorate their own plant pot and sow some vegetable seeds to take home.
The event takes place from 11am to 12.30pm and costs £5. The willow feeder and bird box making activity is also on Monday (21 February) starting at 2pm and costing £8.50 per child.
Help is at hand for families wanting to get off the beaten track this spring with an introduction to navigation using OS maps and a compass to explore the grounds of The Moors National Park Centre.
The event takes place on Friday 25 February at 1pm and costs £4 per child.
