The Mayor of Scarborough, Cllr Simon Green did the honours and cut the ribbon at the launch of a new community bus serving Castleton and the Esk Valley.
The13 seater, Mercedes Sprinter van, with disabled access has been gifted to the Heather Hopper scheme by the Department for Transport.
It is run by Esk Moors Active and a team of 30 volunteers and assistants, and one part time paid coordinator.
There are 130 members who rely on the bus as a means of running errands, attending appoinments and maintaining an active social life.
For 11 years the community bus has been on the road and this will allow Esk Moors to add to the service they provide.
The bus is based at Abbeyfield Esk Moors Lodge where a party was held to celebrate the launch.
