An array of spectacular outfits have been spotted around town, ahead of the main event getting under way.

Tonight will see live music take place at the Whitby Pavilion with performances from: Heaven 17, Sigue Sigue Sputnik electronic, Manuskript and Kitty in a Casket.

Tomorrow, a special ceremony will take place, as two Goths who married two years ago under Pagan Law, tie the knot for a second time at Whitby Registry Office, to be recognised as married under British Law.

David and Jools Winter, from Robin Hood's Bay will marry surrounded by friends, family and an array of guests from Punk and Goth alternative lifestyles.

David Winter explained why the festival means so much: “We love the camaraderie of the event. It doesn’t matter what form of alternative lifestyle you are from, everybody just gets on.

“Whitby is so welcoming as well, we are lucky in that we live locally and visit often but there is no looking down on any group, everyone just goes there to have a good time.”

Lovers of alternative motoring can also enjoy some classic custom cars in an event held at West Cliff School tomorrow from 9am to 3pm, entry is by donation.
