The Whitby Goth Weekend continues today (Sunday) after a sunny start to the festival which is now in its 21st year.
Glorious sun shone on the darker side of Whitby life yesterday as thousands enjoyed soaked up the weather and the friendly festival atmosphere.
The streets were packed with festival goers which led to the swing bridge being closed to traffic temporarily for safety reasons.
The step was taken by the authorities in order to prevent a repeat of the incident last year which saw complete gridlock on the bridge between vehicles and pedestrians.
At night the second evening of live music got underway at the Pavilion as part of the official band line-up while fringe events were taking place at RAW nightclub, the Wellington pub and Abbey Wharf.
Today, the main event of the day kicks off at The Turnbull ground. Stokoemotiv Whitby FC will be taking on the Goths team raising money for this year’s chosen charity, Whitby Wildlife Sanctaury. Gates open at 1pm for a 2pm kick off.
