Fyling Hall has continued to enjoy much success in the maths department.

We are lucky to have a fun and dynamic maths department that year on year achieves outstanding grades.

Part of the secret of our success is the number of ways our pupils are encouraged to learn and apply their skills.

Recently, pupils celebrated National Pi day in class with … pies! They had to use them as part of their calculation to work out the number of pi.

More recently, we also enjoyed competition success when four of our pupils came joint first in a regional maths competition held at Teesside University.

The event is a competitive affair with schools from all over Teesside and Middlesbrough competing.

After qualifying in an earlier round, our team achieved success by working through a number of challenges and working together as a team.

It was a win that was very well deserved.

Winners were Jisu Lee, Archie Robinson, Ellie Dudley and Thor Peretzki.
