Crews from Pickering, Goathland and Whitby are in attendance at the scene close to the Hole of Horcum, a popular beauty spot.

Sustained dry and warm weather can make the moorland more susceptible to catching fire and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has previously warned the public against lighting fires or BBQs on dry grass or moorland.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Please take care if you're visiting the countryside during this warm/dry weather.

"Remember if you spot a wild fire call 999 and ask for the fire service. Consider downloading something like What3Words to help give us an accurate location."
