Fire crews teamed up to tackle a fire which broke out today at Trencher’s restaurant in Whitby.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue took a call shortly after 10am to say a blaze had broken out in the fish and chip shop which had started in the fire range and spread to the extractor system.
The property - hit by a huge blaze in 1999 - this time suffered fire damage to the ground floor and smoke damage throughout all three floors.
Four appliances and an aerial platform ladder were deployed to help to help tackle the fire, and thermal imaging equipment was used to check for heat damage.
It is believed no-one was hurt.
