Fire crews battle deliberate fire at Old Malton

Fire-fighters have battled through the night to bring a barn fire under control.

The building and its contents have been completely destroyed in what fire crews believe was a deliberate arson attack.

They were called to the building on Freehold Lane in Old Malton at around 6pm last night (Thursday).

With the contents of the barn, hay and straw, well alight extra crews were drafted in.

There were five appliances at the incident at one stage and once the blaze had been brought under control this was scaled down to one pump from Malton which stayed at the scene throughout the night.

One appliance will remain at the scene today to monitor the fire.

Fire crews used two hose reel jets, one ground monitor and one main jet.
