Malton-based insurance broker McClarrons and land, property and business specialists George F White recently held a series of seven seminars for farmers across North Yorkshire.
McClarrons discussed the new HSE sentencing guidelines, highlighted the regulatory risks that rural businesses face, and advised about how people and businesses can protect themselves in today’s increasingly litigious society.
George F White gave an update on the Basic Payment Scheme and discussed the latest opportunities through rural grants.
Steven Swift, head of development at McClarrons, said: “It was great to be able to engage with so many rural clients across the county and to be able to address their concerns. It is clear that there is a lot of confusion surrounding the insurance products available to protect businesses against legal disputes”.
Tom Mason, partner at George F White, said: “After last year’s saga around BPS and late payments, a lot of our clients have been very wary of this year’s application process. We’ve seen a number of mistakes made by the RPA which have led to farmers being underpaid and in some cases even penalised.”
