There was plenty to smile about in the Laffan household this morning - after identical twins Catherine and Rebecca scooped six top A-Levels between them.
The Whitby sisters even managed to get identical grades in the same subject, landing an A in History after studying the subject at Caedmon College.
But while the teenagers look the same, they are about to embark on very different career paths after landing five A grades and an A* between them.
Catherine, who also got an A in English Literature and Maths, will study accounting and finance at Leeds University while Rebecca is headed for Law at Newcastle University after an A in Ethics and Philosophy and an A* in Economics and Business.
Their proud mum Kay screamed down the phone when the sisters called her with the good news that they had got five A grades and an A* between them.
Rebecca said: “Our parents were screaming and jumping up and down and we were like ‘mum stop’.
“It was nerve wracking. We were predicted As but didn’t expect to get them.”
And it was celebrations all round at the college, which achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for the first time ever.
Principal Keith Prytherch paid tribute to all students and said it had been a “privilege” to have them at the college over the last four years.
