Chloe Wilson opened the scoring for Danby

Nikki Graham started in lively fashion, using her pace together with Chloe Wilson and Laura Anderson-Cornforth in attack.

Josie Bowes, Kath Hogarth, Issy Hogarth and Katie Hodgson worked the ball around Redcar to help break up their attacks.

Both sides had chances, but the half-time score was locked at 0-0.

Lauren Tindall and Rosie Hogarth made some great runs down the right after the interval.

A break for Danby saw Katie Hodgson clear the ball to Wilson on the left, who drove forward and carried the ball and with a powerful shot she put Danby 1-0 ahead.

This was the lift Danby needed and it was soon followed by a second goal from Bowes.

Karen Dowson, Emma Foster and Christine Tarrant had to work hard to hold Redcar off, but they managed to pull a goal back to make it 2-1.

Goalkeeper Catherine Adamson cleared any more Redcar shots away, leaving the final score 2-1 to Danby.

Danby played Durham University 5ths on Saturday, losing 4-0.

Both teams fought hard but couldn’t find a way through and the half-time score was 0-0.

In the second half Durham stepped up their pace and ran out as comfortable 4-0 winners.

Player of the match went to Christine Tarrant for her relentless defending despite taking a hit to the face blocking a shot.

Danby are away this weekend, when they head to Durham 4ths.

Whitby Ladies had a rest weekend but are also on the road at Stockton this weekend.
