The first ever Ride the BoS - Conquer the Elements cycle ride through the Borough of Scarborough finished in style last Sunday with all 39 riders completing the challenge.

During the four-day ride, which started the previous Thursday, six teams rode over 200 miles and visited 94 villages and towns, tackling 15,000ft of climbing.

Borough mayor Cllr Andrew Backhouse said: “Well, we did it.

“We visited some stunningly beautiful places, witnessed outstanding team work, been touched by the generosity of communities we visited along the route, made many new friends and raised vital funds for many worthy charities.”

Sneaton Castle was thanked for providing accommodation.
