A Whitby man has been cleared of raping a 61 year-old dementia sufferer.
John Heslehurst 44, of Elm Grove originally told police her allegation was false and nothing had happened but admitted they had sex after being confronted with DNA evidence.
She claimed after giving him a peck on the cheek as a thank you for the repair, she was forced onto her bed and raped on October 1, 2012.
Adding he had never forced himself on a woman in his life, Heslehurst said the alleged victim had not screamed, said no, or complained about what was happening, appearing happy and herself when he left.
The jury returned a majority not guilty verdict.
