Sleights has highest crime outside Whitby

SLEIGHTS has the highest crime figures compared to other areas outside Whitby according to recently released statistics.

A new crime website enables the public to check what crimes occurred on their streets for the month of December.

Last week the Gazette reported that 110 crimes were reported to police in Whitby in that period and over half were related to anti-social behaviour.

Figures for the outlying villages reveal that Sleights had ten incidents of crime in December.

Four of those were anti-social behaviour incidents on Hermitage Way.

On Coach Road there was an incident of burglary and one of violent crime, on Iburndale Lane a report of anti-social behaviour, on Orchard Road a case of violent crime and another of anti-social behaviour which also occurred on Yew Tree Close.

Staithes was the second busiest area for police who dealt with five incidents, two of which were violent crime and anti-social behaviour on Beckside.

The other incidents were anti-social behaviour on Church Street, violent crime on High Street and on Seaton Close an incident categorised as ‘other crime’ which can include criminal damage, drugs or shoplifting.

Grosmont saw four crimes under vehicle and anti-social behaviour on Eskdaleside and two other crimes on Priory Park.

The four crimes in Sneaton were two reports of anti-social behaviour and a vehicle crime on the High Street and anti-social behaviour on Beacon Way.

There were also four crimes in Aislaby with a burglary and a violent crime on Coach Road.

Orchard Road was also the scene of a violent crime and anti-social behaviour.

Meanwhile there were three crimes in Castleton - anti-social behaviour and a vehicle crime on High Street and an other crime at Robin Hood Close.

Three crimes were noted for the Robin Hood’s Bay, Raw and Fylingthorpe area with anti-social behaviour and an other crime on Middlewood Crescent and other crime on Thorpe Green Bank.

Lythe saw anti-social behaviour twice on the High Street.

In Goathland, Sandsend and Hawsker there was only one crime reported in December in each of the villages which were all classes as other crime.

No crimes were reported for Danby, Lealholm, Egton, Hinderwell and Littlebeck.
