WHITBY Police are appealing for information following the theft of a quad bike from a property in Goldsborough.

Overnight from 28-29 November a red Honda 420 TRX worth £4,000 was taken when the offender broke into a shed where it was being stored.

The thieves took the quad bike to a nearby road and made off with it, although police are unsure as to whether another vehicle was involved.

The theft came just days after Insp Andy Colbourne said Whitby Police were targeting rural areas to prevent this type of offence.

Whitby Police’s Sgt Mukerjee said: “We’re maximising our patrols in the rural areas to try and combat these thefts. If there are any people in rural areas who think they need crime prevention advice because they store similar property then they can contact PC 475 Darren Mortimer by calling 101.”

Anyone with information about the stolen quad bike is urged to contact PC 193 Tracy Rogers, also by calling 101 and selecting option 2.
