Police summer projects

North Yorkshire Police is launching a competition to give young people the chance to make a difference to their communities during the summer holidays.

Lifestyle has been run elsewhere in the country for years and is open to kids aged between 10 and 16.

They work in teams of up to five people on a project which shows they care about their community such as helping neighbours, the disabled or elderly, tidying the park, promoting sports or a community vegetable garden.

Pc Ben Pepper said: “We hope this will be a refreshing and interesting challenge for young people to help keep them occupied over the summer holidays.

“It is also hoped it will promote social responsibility and community spirit and show young people how they can make a real difference in their area.”
