DETECTIVES are investigating after a haul of valuable antiques were stolen from a cottage in Aislaby last Wednesday (27 July).
A number of pieces of distinctive silver cutlery and a silver commemorative York Minster goblet were stolen from the isolated property.
Detective constable Adam Normanton said: “It is quite unusual to have such identifiable personal property stolen and it gives me some hope that members of the public may recognise the pieces and lead us to the people responsible.
“The burglaries have caused a great deal of distress to the victims and I am urging people to look out for the stolen items if they are attending car boot sales or auction rooms.”
Police believe the theft may be linked to two other similar crimes in the area and anyone who can help the police with their enquiries is urged to contact police on 0845 60 60 247, quoting reference number 12110124286.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
