Police hunt Mickleby thief

Opportunist thieves broke into a Mickleby property and stole a variety of items, including riding boots and wine glasses.

Whitby police contacted the Gazette on Friday, almost three weeks after the crime took place, to appeal for anyone who may have information about the thefts to get in touch.

On July 1, burglars broke into a Low Lane property and stole a Husqvarna chainsaw, horse rugs, Treadstone riding boots and a wine decanter with nine glasses.

Officers are now appealing to anyone who believes they have been offered the items for sale to get in contact.

Anyone who can remember seeing any suspicious people or vehicles in the village around the day of the burglary are also encouraged to get in touch.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Gavin Brown, or email gavin.brown@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
