A police detective has appeared in court this week following an incident in which two people were allegedly assaulted at a pub in the Whitby area.
Detective Sergeant Paul Whiteley (50) who works for West Yorkshire Police’s homicide and major enquiry team, appeared with Claire Hughes before Scarborough Magistrates.
Whiteley, of Grange Moor, Wakefield, is accused of assaulting Carl Sarrsfield at the Fylingdales Inn at Fylingthorpe on May 29.
Hughes (42) of Lawrence Street, York, is accused of assaulting Paula Crossley in the same incident. They both denied the offences and the cased was adjourned until July 17.
