Police chief’s warning over summertime Fagins

The chief of police for Whitby has warned residents to remain vigilant as the town gears up for the busy summer season.

Inspector Andy Colbourne said that although the influx of visitors may make an enjoyable environment in the town, he stressed the need for vehicles to be left secure and for valuables to be stored safely. He added: “It is also imperative that home owners or those with holiday lets and caravans maintain security within their premises so as to act as a deterrent for those intent on committing crime.” However, he added: “Whitby still remains a safe place to live work and visit and we want this to continue throughout 2013.”
