THE TRIAL of murder suspect James Allen has been halted after he complained of stomach pains.

Allen, who is standing trial at Newcastle Crown Court for the murder of Whitby woman Julie Davison and Middlesbrough pensioner Colin Dunford, has been sent back to jail to be seen by the prison doctor.

The development came to light during the lunch break when Allen said he was feeling unwell.

As the court couldn’t get a doctor the judge, Mr Justice Openshaw, said he was unwilling to continue with the day’s proceedings in Allen’s absence and adjourned for the weekend.

The trial is set to resume on Monday.
