Fylingthorpe hit by thefts


Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of thefts near Robin Hood’s Bay.

At some time between 8.45pm last Thursday and 7.30am the following day, a garage was broken into at a property on Sledgates in Fylingthorpe.

Thieves took 14 tools including Makita drills and a jigsaw, a Stihl chainsaw, and a Hitachi angle grinder.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident or has been offered any of the stolen items for sale, to get in touch.

Between June 29 and 30 entry was gained to an outbuilding on Church Lane, Fylingthorpe by forcing the padlock. Three motorcycles, power tools and a generator stolen.

Earlier in the week, between June 26 and 27, thieves stole a quantity of lead from the porch roof of old St Stephen’s Church in Robin Hood’s Bay. Although the lead was later recovered after being spotted by a resident of the village, anyone with information relateing to this crime is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting 12140104849.
