A decision on whether a playing field can be protected for the use of local residents could take another couple of months.
The case of Helredale playing fields was heard in the Supreme Court in London earlier this month and a team of five judges have now gone away to consider their verdicts.
They heard how Helredale Neighbourhood Council is fighting to stop Yorkshire Coast Homes from building affordable homes on the land in a project which will also see new properties at St Peter’s Road.
Secretary Viv Wright said: “We have no indication as to the way it will go. We were told it is 50/50, nobody can tell.”
