Expensive watch taken in guest house break-in

A WATCH worth £1000 was among items taken during a sneak-in burglary at a guest house.

The White Linen Guest House on Bagdale was targeted between 1.30pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday.

The Raymond Weil wristwatch has a gold surround, cream face, Roman numerals and a plain leather strap with a fold over clasp.

Other items taken include a Dell laptop and a HP netbook.

Police say the culprit got in through an insecure door and follows a pattern which has emerged following similar incidents in the area - there have been 12 burglaries since the beginning of January.

Insp Mark Grange said: “We have made an arrest and have someone on bail for the others. We are going to try and put extra patrols on in the afternoon but people must make sure doors are locked.

“I know it is difficult for b&bs but if anybody sees somebody hanging around and trying doors we need to know about it.”
