Crown court for pub theft case

A MAN has appeared at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court accused of stealing almost £5,000 from the Whitby pub where he was employed.

Stuart Shaw (23), of Westfield Court in Redcar, pleaded not guilty to stealing £4.900 from The Jolly Sailors Inn on St Anne’s Staith.

The theft is alleged to have occurred on 20 November last year.

He appeared at the Magistrates’ court on Monday (12 March), but his case has now been sent to the Crown Court for trial with a jury.
