A 68-year-old man is set to appear at York Crown Court on Monday, accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy.
The historic offences relate to a 1981 holiday to Robin Hood’s Bay, organised by the Highlands Adolescent Unit in Burley, Wharfedale.
Norman Bevitt, of Carlton Miniott, Thirsk, was a therapy worker at the care home and he is alleged to have repeatedly assaulted the youngster.
A former hospital, during the 1980s the Highlands Adolescent Unit was a rehabilitation centre for young offenders.
It is unclear where the offences are alleged to have taken place in Robin Hood’s Bay as there were a number of accommodation providers that catered for school trips and young people’s organisations.
Bevitt will face nine charges relating to the assault and attempted assault of the 15-year-old boy.
He was released on conditional bail ahead of the appearance at York Crown Court.
