Whitby RNLI are seeking new volunteers to fill three vacancies that have become available at the station.
The positions, which include a Lifeboat Management Group Chair, a Lifeboat Operations Manager and Deputy Launching Authority are all vital non-seagoing roles which aid in the day to day running of the lifeboat station as well as on rescues.
The role of a Lifeboat Operations Manager is to authorise the launch of the lifeboats, provide leadership of the operations team and ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service.
The role has become available as Keith Stuart, the current Lifeboat Operations Manager is due to retire this summer after many years volunteering with Whitby RNLI first as a crew member and coxswain before stepping into his current role.
Station mechanic Richard Dowson said; "We are looking for someone with local knowledge, especially maritime knowledge, to fill this important role at the station. The RNLI provides great training for its volunteers and training will be provided for the right candidate"

Living or working within 3 miles of Whitby
Have local maritime knowledge
The Deputy Launching Authority role is to provide leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager.
The charity is hoping to attract people from all walks of life and Whitby RNLI Coxswain Mike Russell stressed that people don’t need to have maritime experience to get involved with the RNLI.
He explained: "The role of Lifeboat Management Group Chair requires someone with an interest in the RNLI, we are looking for someone who has good communication skills who enjoys working as part of a team and can chair a meeting."
