THE FIRE service is consulting about how much it should be charging the public via the council tax.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority (NYFRA) is considering options between not raising the precept at all to a 3.9% increase.
The Authority is asking the public to give their views on what their level of funding should be and what kind of increase they would be prepared to support as part of the council tax payments for 2011/12.
Feedback from the consultation will be used when the Authority meets to consider a range of budget management issues at a meeting next month.
The Authority says it must stress it is not proposing reductions in front line services whatever level of council tax is agreed.
To give views a questionnaire will be available online at www.northyorksfire.gov.uk until Friday 28 January or by post, call 01609 780150.
