On the Saturday 12 November 2011 from 3 to 7pm, North East Yorkshire Geology Trust invites you to join in the Celebration of our Community at the Fylingdales Village Hall in Robin Hood’s Bay.
Societies, associations, museums and groups of all kind will join us and display what they do, as well as special artefacts and documents relating to the Robin Hood’s Bay area.
There will be spectacular displays, a rock & fossil road-show, local history, new marine discoveries and many surprises in store. We hope you’ll come and join us, enjoy a cup of tea and cake and discover more about what happens in our community.
This is part of our project ‘A Bay full of Heritage’ supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. There will be displays from the Hawk & Owl Trust, the Horticultural Society, Fylingdales Football Club, the Living Seas project of the Wildlife Trust, Fylingdales and Staintondale & Ravenscar history Societies, Robin Hood’s Bay Museum, the Tourism Association, the Cricket Club, the Victorian Committee and many others, interested individuals and organisations.
You’ll be able to enjoy a Rock & Fossil Road-Show, get your pebbles identified by Barry Butler (a retired Oxford lecturer and member of the Trust), participate in a demonstration of dyeing with alum, put your name down for a ‘Dyeing with Alum’ Experience with ladies who dye naturally, look at scrap books of past Victorian Weekends, find out more about of all societies and groups, join them or have a nice cup of tea and cake.
We hope you’ll come in great numbers to support the Celebration. Please tell your colleagues, friends and families and make this event a great success! Don’t forget on the day to bring pebbles and fossils for identification.
