A CHEQUE for £30,000 has been presented to the RNLI in Whitby after a series of fundraisers by the Co-op supermarket.
Staff from branches across the north took part in charity car washes, fancy dress fundraisers and raffles, as well as fun days and party nights.
One of the highlights was a charity football match between staff and management from the Whitby branch.
It was held at the Turnbull and attracted over 200 spectators raising £2500 alone.
Iain Hume, regional operations manager, said: “It is fantastic that our staff, members and customers really got behind our fundraising efforts and helped collect £30,000 for the RNLI.
“The RNLI provides a vital service and is a charity that is close to the hearts of many of the communities The Co-operative serves, not only in North Yorkshire but right around the country.”
