A group of carol singers have brought Christmas cheer to the Cancer Research charity by raising £1472.

The Windmill Girls have been meeting at the Windmill Pub in Stainsacre every Monday night since November to rehearse Christmas carols.

They then performed at a number of locations with collection buckets.

Special performances were held at Whitby Hospital, Peregrine House, Hawksgarth Lodge, Fairways Court, Hawsker WI, the Stables restaurant and The Forge at Aislaby.

In addition, the girls were on hand to entertain pub-goers enjoying the festivities in Whitby, Sleights and Robin Hood’s Bay.
