CHRIS HARDY: Get behind the lads in cup clashes

We head into two important cup games in the space of four days as we take on Witton in the FA Trophy, before a derby clash with our neighbours Scarborough Athletic.

We’ve craved a cup run in one of the FA competitions for a while now, and we’ll be gunning for progression in the FA Trophy when we welcome Witton on Saturday.

They’re a side we know a lot about having narrowly lost 1-0 to them recently.

We are confident that if we can perform well on the day we can progress in the competition.

We’re hoping to have Greg Rutherford back in the training this week and we’ll see how he manages that.

Both our goalkeepers are fit to play, I believe it would be incredibly harsh on Adam McHugh for him to lose his place at the moment.

Kieran Weledji has taken a bit of a knock and he’s being assessed this week.

It sounds like it could keep him out for a couple of weeks though, which would be a blow.

Our big derby clash in the Integro League Cup follows on Tuesday night, a game I’m personally really looking forward to and I know the lads are the same.

Obviously our last game there was marred by the trouble after the game.

I really want to appeal to our supporters to come down to Scarborough, make some noise and get behind the team.

Hopefully we can come away with the bragging rights and progress in the competition - I can say for sure that we will be going there with a full-strength side to try and win the game.

I was delighted with Saturday’s 4-0 victory against Mickleover.

They were the better side in the early exchanges, but we defended well and took our chances, and in the end it turned out to be a pretty comfortable victory for us.
