Generous staff and customers at Whitby’s Day Lewis Pharmacy have raised more than £500 for a local charity.
The business which was celebrating its 38th anniversary, asked all its 208 shops to hold an event for charity - and staff at the store in Baxtergate chose Whitby Disablement Action Group.
A cake stall, raffle and tombola and a number of guessing games made £532 for the charity which will be doubled by Day Lewis to £1,064.
Assistant manager Karen Wilson said: “We were delighted with how it went.It was a very successful day. The cake stall got filled up three times and by 2.30pm we had sold out.”
