Friends and family of a teenager killed in a car tragedy celebrated what would have been his 21st birthday by raising money for charity.
Dan Rollins died in October 2013 as he drove back home to Whitby from work in Middlesbrough on the A171 and lost control of his car, hitting another vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
He would have celebrated the milestone birthday on February 7 so his mum Sue and sister Tiffany organised a meal and charity evening at RAW nightclub with his friends.
Donations, of cheques made out for £21, and money made on the evening made £1,126 which was handed over to Interactive, an organisation which arranges play and leisure opportunities for disabled children and their families.
An amount of the money raised is going to be used for a trip to Lightwater Valley.
On the night there were 21 balloons in green, which was Dan’s favourite colour, catering by Ben Laws and RAW staff worked on the night too.
Mum Sue said: “Tiffany had got posters with memories and captions from people.
“It was a night where all his friends could gather together and remember him and do something positive.”
She added: “It was hectic for everybody but nice for his friends.”
